Agraviados revolt 1827

Synopsis
This revolt happened between March and September of 1827 and was located mainly in the rural areas of Catalonia, though there were spotlights in the Pyrenees and the ancient Aragon Crown. The root of the uprising was the breakup of the absolutist bloc after the Liberal Triennium (1820-1823). The instigators of the rebellion, called "agraviados" or malcontents, considered that Fernando VII’s government had betrayed the absolutist values, because he hadn’t reestablished the Inquisition and he hadn’t appointed moderate liberals to the government. Furthermore, the king didn’t reward them enough for their services during the Liberal Triennium. The aim of this uprising was the return to the Ancient Regime, and the king’s brother, Carlos María de Isidro, was proclaimed as the true king by the rebels. Finally, the army’s arrival and the lack of support finished the riot, but the fight between liberals and absolutists would come back with the Carlist Wars (1833-1840, 1846-1849 and 1872-1876).
